What did my winter do to my build pacing? Well, three major snow storms, two of which had 11 inches of snow. We usually get one moderate storm (3-6 inches), but not 3 and rarely 11 inches. The good news: we have a snow blower that easily handles this amount of snow so long as we get out there before it has a chance to turn to ice. I just walk behind it and ensure it’s going in the right direction.
So what did I work on?
Mooseroo Cup. I had gathered materials for the mandated “diorama or vignette” requirement and then played around with various combinations of paints, clays, and clear gels to determine my path. I started in earnest in November, putting everything else on my bench aside. I’ll do a series of posts on it once the photos are in to the judges up at IPMS Hamilton. Unfortunately I cannot make HeritageCon this year.

Printer Upgrades. I’ve got 2 FDM 3D printers (Ender 3 Pro and Prusa MK4). The Ender is already upgraded to its max, anything more is money wasted for no real return. It’s a 5 year old printer and while slow, it’s reliable. The MK4 had 3 upgrades available — enclosure, multi-material unit, and new parts for the extruder/hot end to make it about 20% faster. These were my Christmas gifts and I trudged along while I waited for things to dry with my Moooseroo. I can now print in up to 5 colors or with different materials integrated into the design — I’ll use the latter feature for dissolvable supports. More on what I’m doing with these printers in a future post.

Hasegawa SBD-3. Our Club display for the 2025 show circuit is “Cactus Air Force”. Any allied or Japanese aircraft that operated from Guadalcanal or was used to attach the allied forces. No pictures yet, but I finished it Friday night before the first show — Old Dominion Open down in Richmond, VA.
BPK P-8A. This is a long range kit I want finished by US Nationals in August. I started it last Summer (okay, “studied” is more apt) and construction really began in October at the weekly group builds at our airport nearby. Progress posts are overdue.
I also squeezed a trip to a Model Railroad Show over the winter. I’m planning to get the layout at least to a point I can rail-fan my rolling stock.

Lots of posts to write. I need to catch up with all the posts that are overdue. Between a podcast, shows, club activities, and building models it seems there’s never time to sit down and write. I’ve been able to shed two responsibilities with my sailing club, so that will help tremendously.
Thanks for looking…
