After cleaning up that pesky ghost seam on the tail — 4 sessions of fill/sand/paint — I continued to mask and paint the black areas using Tamiya NATO Black. This included the walk-ways on the tail, wing, and top of the hull, and all the lettering and numbers on the wing and hull. I cut those using my Silhouette Cameo, using the kit decals for sizing.
And of course I suddenly realized my careful masking of the ghost seam area left the aft portion of the walk-way shaped a bit wonky. Sigh. Time to mask and repaint yet again. Once that was done I then applied the only decals on this model, the national markings. I was initially going to mask these as well because I couldn’t find my 60 inch insignia, which were the specification for a wing this large. Sixty inches was the maximum size. Applied with a little MicroSet and MicroSol and left to let gravity do its thing overnight. All 4 came out perfect.
With that it was final assembly. The wing goes on the pylon surprisingly square, and I used a slower curing Tamiya thick cement to give me some working time to get the struts in place. Once together I removed all the masking from the clear bits.
And she’s done.
Thanks for looking…
