I had to take a break, but finally got some time in the paint shop. I took a different approach simply because this is firstly a larger model for me and secondly is quite a light scheme given it’s Light Gull Gray over White.
I primed in Mr Surfacer white, which is normal for me when doing a model with lots of white. I then applied a pre-shade of rubber black on the upper surfaces, and a dark gray on the lower surfaces. My hand is not as stead as I’d like, but whatever…I can fill in later.
After just one coat of Light Gull Gray, and 2 coats of White, I took a break. After a week, we had our monthly meeting and took the model in for a critique and some advice on next steps.
The Geeks basically said, STOP. After I do some oils it’ll complete the look and darken a bit so if I put more base paints it’ll be too much. Less is more.
Next step is stripping the tail cone. My initial attempt was much too dark.
