2023 – That One Thing

Canopy masks.

Yep, that’s it.  Every kit should have a sheet of masks for the clear bits.  Whether an aircraft, car, spacecraft, or whatever, if it has clear bits that will look better if installed before painting or have some sort of framing on them that must either be painted by hand, or masked, then include the masks.

The same goes for ships’ decks.  If the deck is going to be one color and the vertical surfaces another, include the mask.  Make modeling easier, not harder.

I don’t need nor want the PE, frankly.  I’ll accept PE if a plastic or resin version is either not possible or would look impossibly huge on the model — the one time PE was appropriate was when I built the HMS Dreadnaught, and it absolutely needed the boat supports to be PE.  It was fiddly, it wasn’t easy, but it looked right.

Masks.  Don’t make me go to a third party, or worse, attempt to create a mask from scratch.  It never looks as nice as the one your engineers designed for the kit.
